Finance Director

Tell me a little about yourself?  I am married with a 10-year-old daughter who has many hobbies so much of our time outside of work is spent taking her to her various clubs and classes!  I have worked within the cleaning industry since I was 19 so have a great deal of experience and a good knowledge of it all.

What is your role within Proceed? I am the Financial Director for the Company.

Tell me about an average day in your working life with Proceed?  I don’t think I really have an average day!  It depends on where we are in the month as to what needs doing. At the beginning of the month, we raise and send out invoices to clients for that month. Then, it’s time to start preparing payroll/timesheet information with the Operations Dept, to send to our payroll department, once they have processed the information and returned the reports to us, I then oversee the scheduling of everyone’s wage payment into the bank to ensure everyone is paid on payday.  After payroll I can concentrate on the monthly accounts for the previous month, ensuring every transaction is accurately entered into the accounts system and that the month is closed off and correct. At the end of the month, our suppliers have to be paid their monies due.  After that we  need to raise and send invoices to clients who receive their invoices at the end of the working month. Once this is finished, we start all over again the next month! Obviously in amongst all this there is always additional work that comes up and needs doing, you never know when a request from a colleague may need to take priority, but we work as a team and help each other out when we need to.

How has your position changed since joining Proceed? When I started in 2018, I was Office Manager and ran the office and all the admin that goes with that. I also assisted the then Financial Director with the purchase ledger and sales ledger input.  Very sadly our Financial Director passed away rather unexpectedly in 2020 and I now do his job along with overseeing and ensuring all the other work I was previously doing is completed.

Tell me what you enjoy most about working for Proceed? The team of people I work with are great, many of whom I have known for a number of years, before joining Proceed. It’s always good to turn up to work and see friendly faces.  My contact with my colleagues who work out on site, although minimal, is always positive and I enjoy talking to the people who are out there doing the real work! I also enjoy “fiddling around with numbers” so working as the Financial Director is my ideal job!

What would you tell others about working for Proceed? If you get the opportunity – Do it!  I am very happy to be working for a company that takes a pride in what it does.  We provide an exemplary cleaning service for all our clients; Proceed always go the extra mile and work hard to produce the absolute best results.  Proceed also genuinely care for their employees and make sure everyone is looked after. It’s a great team to be working within!
