Miles for Mind – 4000KM Completed

Throughout January, as always, we have brought people together to support our valued charity partner, Mind, by combining physical activity with the opportunity for open discussions about mental health.

Participants were asked to select a personal kilometre target for January and there was no pressure or judgment, the goal was to choose something that fit around your lifestyle and commitments.

Our community’s response to Miles for Mind was phenomenal and together we walked, ran, cycled and swam over 4,000 kilometres throughout January. We also had participants from all walks of life including Proceed team members, business owners, supply-chain partners, site-based teams, office personnel, and many of our long-standing industry friends and contacts.

January is typically a difficult month, after the festivities, and then comes into the long dark winter months, along with unpredictable weather conditions (especially this year), so the intention was to establish a supportive and positive community which could motivate each other, encourage consistent participation and provide accountability, if needed.

It was not the number of kilometres covered or how quickly they were completed that stood out the most, but the consistent and committed efforts from those who may feel like they are outside of these types of events. If we had to define Miles for Mind using only one word, it would be inclusive.

While the main purpose of Miles for Mind was to fundraise for Mind, the obvious benefits of participating were improved mental clarity, greater mobility, weight reduction, the feeling of achieving a goal, and more than anything else, camaraderie and connections made with others.

Collectively we raised over £1,500
